![]() ![]() Well I can play the E minor, A major and C minor Chopin preludes (though I'm not sure I play them perfectly, just play them). I have a couple of months before I can move to a new teacher so I'm trying to 'plan things out'. Would a student want to learn ALL of the pieces from these books before progressing or just some of them? ![]() Which editions of these or any other sets of pieces would be suggested? The Alfred Masterwork editions look good since they include detailed explanations on ornamentation and playing (helpful for a beginner), but the Alfred edition of the Anna Magdalena notebook is only 'Selections' and not the whole notebook. The inventions seem a bit beyond my ability at the moment, so perhaps the Anna Magdalena notebook and the 18 little preludes to then progress onto more advanced works like 2 and 3 part inventions, followed by the WTC? My question is where to start with Bach? The only Baroque piece I have played is the first prelude from WTC I. I have played for a couple of years but have only played simple romantic stuff such as some of the easy Chopin preludes and easier Brahms, but I am moving to a new teacher soon and am thinking I should start with Bach and build up more a solid foundation with his music - I also need to work on my technique, counting and metronome use which my current teacher hasn't done much of.
